Job OverviewUnder limited supervision, the Senior Machining Engineer (Process) will be responsible for fabricating products from written instructions and drawings by selecting equipment best suited for the process, programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting equipment such as manual and multi-axis CNC lathes, mills, grinders and supporting equipment.
The Sr.
Machining Engineer (Process) will be part of a 10 person Engineering team.
This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager at the Aerojet Ordnance Tennessee facility in Jonesborough Tennessee.
This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company.
20% - Collection, organization and analysis of data and written reports.
Writing Engineering work instructions for the processes that are developed.
Analyze data to identify root cause of defects and implement appropriate countermeasures.
10% - Estimating machining time and costs and providing support for technical proposals and bids and other duties as assigned.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in Manufacturing Technology or a related field and at least five years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Must have specific experience programming, selecting tooling, setting up, operating and troubleshooting multi-axis CNC lathes, mills and grinders.
Fabrication experience with metals, stainless steel, aluminum, steel and/or tungsten is required.
Must have the demonstrated ability to work with and interpret complex hard copy and electronic Solid Models to fabricate products.
Working knowledge of geometric tolerancing / dimensioning is required.
Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine, Esprit CAM (Computer Aided Machining) software and SolidWorks CAD (Computer Aided Design) software preferred.
Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming a plus.
Requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.

ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.
) in a safe manner.
While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc.
requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.
e.
steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.
), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection.
Some positions may require Respirator clearance up to and including the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Level A clearance.
Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas.
Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations.
Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto.
Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary.
This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
